G.B.H. Punk: One of the most uncompromising bands in the world. GBH originally formed in 1979 in Birmingham, England, initially known as “Charged GBH”, to avoid confusion with a band similarly named, later dropping the prefix after it was discovered no other band existed. Their first album, “City Baby Attacked By Rats”, was released in 1982 to critical acclaim and it’s follow up, “City Baby's Revenge”, released in 1983 fortified the typical GBH sound - noisy and distorted hardcore punk rock. All through the 80's and 90's GBH continued to release records and tour the world. GBH have toured everywhere, extensively in the U.S.A., through Mexico to Brazil and Argentina, from Israel and across Europe to Poland and even in Japan. Bands like Metallica, Nirvana, Sepultura, Slayer(who covered “Sick Boy” on their recent punk covers C.D.) have all cited GBH as an influence. 2002 sees the release of a new album “Ha Ha” and that is their best in years. Another album, another world tour, and with 28 years under their belt, GBH is bigger and better than ever! Sigh Rock/Heavy Metal/Death Metal: Japan's best-known black metal band, Sigh, has, over the years, also progressed into one of the genre's most experimental and simply unusual bands regardless of whereabouts. Led by bassist/vocalist/keyboardist Mirai Kawashima, the trio formed in 1989, at which point the lineup was rounded out by Satoshi Fujinami on guitar and Kazuki on drums. They took their original inspirations from the raw '80s thrash metal of bands such as Venom, Celtic Frost, and Kreator, meanwhile mixing in horror movie soundtrack atmospheres and keyboards/synthesizer arrangements (they were one of the first so-called black metal bands to heavily use keyboards). After a couple of demos, they recorded their first EP, Requiem for the Fools, in 1992 for the Wild Rags label, with Satoshi doubling on guitar and bass (Kazuki had left by this point). This effort drew the attention of infamous Mayhem guitarist/Norwegian black metal scene figurehead Euronymous, who signed them to his Deathlike Silence Productions imprint for their debut full-length. Entitled Scorn Defeat, this album came out in 1993 after Euronymous' death and was the first Sigh recording to include guitarist Shinichi Ishikawa, with Satoshi moving strictly to drums and percussion.

Finch Rock/Emo: California-based emo rockers Finch, originally called Numb, include vocalist Nate Barcalow, guitarists Randy Strohmeyer and Alex Linares, bassist Derek Doherty, and drummer Alex Pappas. Strohmeyer actually had a hand in getting the band signed to Drive-Thru Records. The young guitarist contacted the label incessantly, intent on generating interest in his music. His fan mail and pestering even led to friendship of sorts with Drive-Thru owner Richard Reines. So when Strohmeyer inevitably pitched him Finch, he figured Reines was just being polite by listening. But Reines was genuinely enthusiastic about Finch and offered the band a contract. The 2001 four-song EP Falling into Place was the band's first release for Drive-Thru and sold over 6,000 copies in just its first three months of release. That set up the well-received full-length What It Is to Burn, which appeared the following year, produced by Mark Trombino (blink-182, Midtown). Finch immediately hit the road with RX Bandits and spent that summer on the Warped Tour.	Scary Kids Scaring Kids Rock/Indie Rock: Taking their name from a Cap'n Jazz song, Phoenix sextet Scary Kids Scaring Kids began spewing impassioned post-hardcore that could be both shriekingly spastic and soothingly melodic in the early 2000s. Known for a reckless, incendiary live show, the band originally comprised Tyson Stevens (vocals/bass), DJ Wilson (guitar), Peter Costa (drums), and Chad Crawford (guitar). Wilson later picked up the bass following the addition of guitarist Steve Kirby and keyboardist Pouyan Afkary to the band's ranks. While still seniors in high school, the guys recorded their debut EP, After Dark, with Bob Hoag (Recover, the Format), independently releasing it that June before putting the band on the back burner. An escalating buzz around the band really began to take off, especially after the popular website absolutepunk.net posted their EP online. Next thing bandmembers knew, Scary Kids was back as their first priority with a new deal on Immortal Records. The label reissued After Dark in 2004 folowed by The City Sleeps in Flames. In spring 2006, Justin Salter officially replaced Costa.

Nightwish Goth/Metal: Following in the footsteps of the Gathering and Lacuna Coil (goth-influenced "symphonic" metal bands with female vocalists), Nightwish was formed in Kitee, Finland, in 1997 by keyboardist Tuomas Holopainen. Initially attempting to create acoustic music, he recruited trained opera vocalist Tarja Turunen, but soon added full metal-band instrumentation in the persons of guitarist Emppo Vuorinen, bassist Sami Vänskä, and drummer Jukka Nevalainen. The band's demos landed them a contract with the Finnish label Spinefarm, which released their debut album Angels Fall First in late 1997 (it appeared in the rest of Europe the following year). The follow-up, Oceanborn, appeared in late 1998 and made Nightwish a bonafide mainstream success in their homeland; the album reached the Finnish Top Five and spun off three Top Ten singles. The band toured Europe heavily, consolidating their success, and in 2000 recorded their third album Wishmaster. Not only did it top the Finnish charts, but it also became the group's first album to be released in the U.S.

Drive-By Truckers Southern Rock/Alternative Country Rock: Drive-By Truckers released several albums of gutsy, often ironic roots rock (1998's Gangstabilly, 1999's Pizza Deliverance, and the live effort Alabama Ass Whuppin') before settling down to compose their unlikely magnum opus, The Southern Rock Opera, a two-act, two-CD work based loosely on the history of Lynyrd Skynyrd. Patterson Hood and Mike Cooley, who met in college, started the group in 1996. The two initially played in a punk-inspired band called Adam's House Cat. The underground success of Opera caught the ear of roots rock label Lost Highway, which reissued the album in 2002. The band was picked up by New West Records, which released Decoration Day in mid-2003. Touring and further lineup changes followed the album's release, with Shonna Tucker replacing bassist Earl Hicks, joining Hood, Cooley, drummer Brad Morgan, and guitarist/songwriter Jason Isbell, all of whom played on 2004's The Dirty South. In 2005 the group put out a DVD, Live at the 40 Watt: August 27 & 28, 2004. A Blessing and a Curse followed in April 2006. 2008 saw the release of Brighter Than Creation's Dark on New West Records.

Filo & Peri DJ/Trance/Techno: Filo & Peri have seen their careers skyrocket as their musical palate has remained true. Their sonic style veers from driving-techno to euphoric-trance, and from banging-progressive to sizzling vocals. Throughout it all, one thing remains clear: When Filo & Peri are behind the decks, not a soul in the club is standing still. Just ask global DJ Armin Van Buuren; once Van Buuren got his hands on Filo & Peri’s first record “Elevation,” he played it for weeks on his “A State Of Trance” syndicated radio show. Growing-up, Filopei was a huge fan of ‘80’s and ‘90’s heavy metal and rock bands, and he counts Poison, Guns N’ Roses, and Motley Crüe among his old favorites. Six years Filopei’s junior, Pericic came of age with Kraftwerk, Underworld and Orbital in his home, as his father was and still is a lover of electronic dance music. As a production and DJ team, Filo & Peri’s divergent musical interests balance each other out and create a unique sound all their own.

The Kooks Rock/Indie Rock: The Kooks are back. 2006's Inside In/Inside Out was a huge hit, selling some 2 million copies worldwide, spawning massive singles 'She Moves In Her Own Way', 'You Don't Love Me', 'Sofa Song', 'Eddie's Gun', 'Ooh La' and especially 'Naïve' – after which the album took on a whole new life of its own. The Brighton quartet quickly rang up sell-out shows not just in the UK but in America and all over the world, earning a support slot with The Rolling Stones along the way and categorically establishing themselves as A Great British Band.
